Looking for a holiday cottage where your dog is as welcome as you are? Look no further.

We pride ourselves on being ‘more than dog friendly’ so we’d like to welcome you and your furry friends to holiday with us at our beautiful and unique off-grid spot near the iconic Lake District and encourage you to keep scrolling to see all of the ways we cater for you and your 4 legged friends.

The only thing we do ask is that as we have some poultry onsite and respecting that every dog is different at social engagement, please do keep your dogs on leads when moving about the site.

Enclosed Field

We have an enclosed field over 2 acres in size dedicated to you and your pup for B-A-L-L throwing, toileting and running around. This is available to all staying guests and provides a secure environment for off lead exercise and play

There are countless local walks, fantastic for humans and dogs of all ages and abilities for which we can provide information and personal recommendations

Muddy paws

A shared shower facility with additional towels is available onsite in our reception porch area for those rather muddy affairs

Lots of land

A full 9 acres of land surround Brackenthwaite and it's yours to use at your leisure

Welcome Pack

Every pup receives their own doggy welcome pack made up of towels, treats, poo bags, a water bowl, a dog tag with Brackenthwaite details on it in case the dog goes astray, toys/balls and information on local dog-friendly attractions and dining options (of which there are many)

the future

As is the Brackenthwaite way, we’re always looking to do more and make improvements so plans for the future include creating a dedicated puppy playground with exercise and agility equipment!

We’re also looking into creating a woodland walk and nature trail on our land to attract even more wildlife and introduce even more things to sniff at!

"Matthew and Harry have put serious effort in the presentation of a lovely holiday cottage. The cottage comes with all the practical items you would require in the kitchen and bathroom but the "dressing" of the whole cottage with a comprehensive range of quality ornaments etc was very much appreciated. The icing on the cake for us was the excellent dog exercise area where our pet could run freely and make friends with the resident pooches. After our experience of the cottage it was no surprise to find a box of doggy toys as you enter the field. The area has lots to offer and given the weather was perfect, we had a holiday we would be happy to repeat."

"Beautiful property & incredible value. So much space & fully equipped for any length of stay - we were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! Harry was very communicative and everything was super easy. Welcome hamper was a lovely touch too (eggs were delicious!). Lovely and quiet off the beaten track but close enough to the Lakes for exploring too. Very dog friendly and secure. Bed and linen all so comfy!! By far the best Air BnB we’ve stayed in, would definitely recommend!"

"The Dairy at Brackenthwaite Farm was excellent. The cottage was modern and well equipped, with great views. Two good-sized fields were available for exercising our greyhound. Hosts Matthew and Harry (plus their lovely dogs) were always around for help if needed and provided info on nearby walks and attractions."
