Corner Cottage is a beautifully appointed 2-bedroom property with semi-private outdoor area set within the enclosed courtyard at Brackenthwaite.

Originally utilised as a barn for storing animal feed and provisions, and housing livestock during winter months, Corner Cottage and its sister property The Coach House were converted into holiday properties during the 1980s from what was then largely unused barn space. Recently upgraded over the winter of 2022, Corner Cottage offers staying guests the highest levels of comfort for up to 4 people.

The ground floor is open plan with comfort and style taking centre stage. Cosy up in the lounge where exposed beams bring charm and character, enjoy conversation whilst cooking and move through to the sophisticated dining space when dinner is served.

Upstairs is a king size master bedroom with fitted wardrobes and 50-inch smart TV, plus an adjacent twin bedroom that is suitable for children or adults. These 2 bedrooms share a contemporary family bathroom with shower above the bath for everybody’s use.

Corner Cottage is accessed via the courtyard where you’ll also find your allocated parking – perfectly placed for quick and easy access from your car to the property and back again with any bags, children, or dogs that you might have in tow. At the end face of the property is your semi-private outdoor seating with surrounding planters of colour and fragrance to enjoy. While sitting out al fresco with your morning coffee or making use of the charcoal-fired BBQ one evening with friends, the courtyard offers you a view of the old stable block and some rustic charm. From dusk enjoy solar powered lighting that frames the courtyard for continued outdoor enjoyment. 

From April to October we are also home to visiting swallows that nest at Brackenthwaite and raise their young. It’s easy to while away time watching the parents-to-be collect twigs to build their nests or fly low catching insects to feed off as the evening sets in.
