Our four self-contained holiday cottages each provide superb quality accommodation, fully-equipped facilities, and a base on our ten acres of family-owned farmland with purposefully created areas, both indoor and outdoors, to awe-inspire and make your stay with us extra special.
Sink into superking-size beds, sit beside the real flames of a fire, soak in the bath surrounded by mood lighting and relaxing music. Place into your slow cooker some fresh ingredients before heading out for the day knowing that when you get back, you’ll have a delicious homemade meal ready to enjoy, or sit outside on a clear winter night, wrapped up in a toasty warm fleece blanket, sipping on a glass of mulled wine and admiring the display from the clear, starry night sky.

The Dairy
The Dairy at Brackenthwaite Farm is a firm favourite among couples due to its charming character, beautiful presentation, unique features, and magnificent outlook towards The Old Man of Coniston in The Lake District. Its spacious, open plan layout also makes it the number one choice for solo travellers, too.
Upon entering the property you’ll be greeted with the impressive sight of this tastefully designed studio apartment that oozes character. Take five steps down into the living area and you’ll notice the high ceiling and abundance of natural light coming in from the almost full wall windows on two sides, allowing for some spectacular views of open fields and the mountains beyond.
Special features within The Dairy include a wood burning stove, large wall-mounted TV with soundbar and Netflix included, a mezzanine bedroom from where you can also take in the incredible views, and a glass-topped water well set into the floor in the living area that lights up at night and creates wonderful displays on the ceiling from the moving water beneath.
The kitchen is fully equipped to accommodate full, home-cooked meal prep as well as convenience dining. Dining itself is at the breakfast bar or grab a tray for a TV dinner! The bedroom boasts a luxuriously comfortable super king-sized bed (that can also be made into a twin with prior notice), storage, and dressing table. The bathroom too offers touches of luxury with its use of lighting and underfloor heating so for those of you who enjoy a nice soak in the bath, you’ll certainly enjoy taking some timeout here after a full day exploring the local area.
Immediately outside the property is where you can sit out to further enjoy those stunning views. Watch the sun set with a good book and maybe a glass of whatever you prefer. During the warmer months you’ll also find a charcoal-fired BBQ and small fire pit here for use at your pleasure. The Dairy overlooks The Orchard, which is where dogs can be exercised, children can play, and anyone can walk, sit out, and enjoy.

Corner Cottage at Brackenthwaite Farm is a thoughtfully converted hay barn with semi-private outdoor seating area and within a courtyard setting. Accommodating up to four people in two bedrooms, this property proves popular with couples and small families, but can be booked with its neighbouring property, The Coach House, to accommodate larger families and friendship groups, too.
Access into the property is from the courtyard where you have allocated off-road parking making it exceptionally convenient for un/loading luggage, children, and/or dogs! The courtyard can also be made secure for children and dogs to play, though with its dedicated exercise and play areas, The Orchard at the front of the farm may be a preferred choice for both.
Corner Cottage itself is comfortable and stylish, and kept beautifully clean and maintained to a high standard. At the ground floor level there is an open play living arrangement with lounge, dining and kitchen. The rooms are welcoming and bright, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you might need for preparing your own meal as well as for convenience dining.
Upstairs are the master King Size and second Twin bedrooms plus a contemporary family bathroom with L-shaped bath and overhead shower. Each bedroom has its own storage plus additional storage is available at the foot of the stairs. The master bedroom also benefits from a large wall-mounted tv for enjoying some television with a morning cup of coffee or light breakfast in bed.
Within the semi-private outdoor area, you may like to sit out with a glass of your favourite drink and catch up on a good book, light up the charcoal fire BBQ for your evening meal or build a small fire in the fire pit to toast marshmallows and create new memories beneath the starry night sky.

The Coach House at Brackenthwaite Farm is a great choice for bookings of up to six people, but also works exceptionally well for groups of two or four. It sits in a courtyard aside Corner Cottage and these two can be booked together to accommodate up to ten people.

One level up is where you’ll find the double bedroom, twin bedroom, and family bathroom, all of which have their own storage for your clothes and personal items. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower and infrared heating. Up another half level is the master bedroom. This is a luxuriously spacious room with super king size bed (or twin on request). Fitted wardrobes provide lots of storage space and a vanity unit. A chaise longue adds a touch of class and additional comfort to take in some fantastic views of the local countryside, and a TV unit allows for some morning television in bed with a hot cup of coffee or light breakfast in bed.

The OLD FARMHOUSE
The Old Farmhouse at Brackenthwaite Farm is the original dwelling onsite and it’s full of character and original features, and with two bedrooms having the flexibility to be a super-king or twin bed setup, this property makes a great choice for almost everyone’s needs.
Step back in time as you enter the property and note its thick, limestone walls and original ceiling beams. Through the porch and to the left is the living room that offers a mix of modern conveniences with times-past living. The large wall-mounted TV with Netflix included can entertain younger generations, while the bare stone wall and feature fireplace can create a soothing evening atmosphere for the adults when it’s time to wind down for the evening.
The fully equipped kitchen and adjoining dining area are located on the right upon entry to the property, and these two rooms make a great space for gathering and entertaining due to their shared open layout. Also downstairs is a cloak room plus WC. Upstairs are three bedrooms including two generous super-king rooms that can be made up as twin rooms, if preferred and with advance notice. There is also a comfortable third bedroom, which is always presented as a twin room. The master bathroom is on this level and comprises a toilet, basin, and a walk-in power shower plus separate bath for those who like a nice soak.
Outside are two aspects to enjoy: to the rear is an enclosed patio that is great for breakfast dining, daytime sitting out, and free dog-roaming. The front aspect has additional seating within a garden area where you will also find a charcoal fired BBQ for your use. From here you can enjoy some fabulous views of The Lake District and enjoy the outside beauty right through to the setting sun. Stay our even later if you wish taking advantage of our discreet night lighting and chimenea.
Parking is to the front of the property and kept secure behind a wooden gate. Immediately to the front of the parking area is The Orchard, which is our 2.5 acre fully enclosed field with balls and throws for dogs plus dedicated play area for children with a trampoline, swings, slides, and more, making The Old Farmhouse a super choice for groups with children and/or dogs.

FAQs
Extremely – and we cannot emphasise this enough! Some places say they are dog friendly, but then the dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture or upstairs, and the ‘enclosed’ garden can be easily escape from with a quick hop or a jump. Brackenthwaite Farm is different. We have a fully enclosed and fully secure 2.5 acre play field with balls, throwers, and other toys provided, and we know that every single dog who visits us LOVES this space. Dogs are provided their own little welcome pack that includes throws and towels so that they too can enjoy a little snooze in one of the comfy seats.
Because we are in the countryside, everywhere needs to be dog-friendly. from shops, pubs and restaurants, and with the countless walks and destinations to visit during your stay, you’ll find the vast majority of them welcome and cater for dogs. You can see on our “While You’re Here” page which places are dog friendly.
We absolutely provide free WiFi – and more than that, it is fibre to the premises and has upload and download speeds of over 400 mbps!
Yes. In fact, much of our feedback about our kitchens is that people have never experienced a kitchen so very well equipped on a self-catering UK holiday before! Enough cutlery and crockery for everyone, all the pots and pans you might need, plus extras like air fryers, slow cookers, and let’s not forget the barbecues for summertime!
