A day you can enjoy, amongst the scent of flowers and hay meadows, where the stunning scenery does the heavy lifting, swallows dance on the breeze and a charming, rustic barn provides the perfect setting.
If that sounds like your vision, then we have wonderful news. Brackenthwaite Farm is opening its doors as a wedding venue and we’re introducing it with a special Wedding Fair Open Day. Most importantly, you’re invited!
Whilst known for its lovely holiday cottages, Brackenthwaite Farm is also a truly unique blank canvas for your special day. This open day on Sunday 8th March is your chance to explore its potential as a wedding venue first hand, and it’s free to attend.

We’d like you to really get a feel of the place so you’ll be able to view The Diary – our very own Bridal/Honeymoon Suite, as well as exploring our beautiful ten acres of grounds and meeting some of our resident animals en route. And of course there is our exclusive venue, The Long Barn which can seat 40 people for your ceremony, and/or provide the perfect space for your evening’s entertainment. In addition, we’ll have local providers available to showcase their services for you too, as well as refreshments on hand. We’ll also be exhibiting a special teepee marquee!
Brackenthwaite Farm: Your Perfect Venue
Your exclusive wedding village: Brackenthwaite Farm offers exclusive use of its four self-catering cottages, sleeping up 18 people* in total, creating a private, festive community where you can celebrate from the day before to the day after. You and your guests will have time to relax in the Rose Garden, wander through the orchard and chat round the fire-pit. There’s a games room and plenty of safe space for children and dogs to get their exercise. Add street performers in the courtyard for some extra festivity while you enjoy a drink from the converted Horse Trailer Bar. It’s a wedding and a mini-holiday rolled into one!
*We can put you in touch with other local accommodation providers for the guests who aren’t staying at Brackenthwaite.
A Barn Full of Character: At the heart of it all is The Long Barn. The farm’s versatile limestone single story long barn is a beautiful, rustic canvas waiting for your personal touch. We have already equipped the barn with fairy lights and a log fire for colder days. And it can be decorated to match your style or theme, creating a celebration that is authentically you.
Nature’s Perfect Backdrop: Your wedding photos will be amazing. The farm is set within ten acres and has beautiful views towards the Lakeland fells. The ten acres of farmland includes:
- A few select resident pet farm animals – pigs, goats, hens, ducks, and geese – all add a touch of Beatrix Potter charm.
- A rose garden, which also houses our wood-fired pizza oven that you and your guests are welcome to make use of during your stay.
- A large fire pit
- Beautiful meadows and naturalised habitat for wildlife

Under the Stars: Later into the evening, when the skies are clear, our dark skies provide an amazing canopy of stars to gaze up at from around the Fire Pit, the Rose Garden, or elsewhere around the farm.
A Destination for Everyone: Located on the edge of the Lake District and the Morecambe Bay coastline, Brackenthwaite Farm offers the perfect balance of a tranquil countryside with an abundance of local walks and nature to explore in the heart of the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, with easy access transport links and proximity to The Lake District for further adventures. Invite your Dogs (and Horses!)
The icing on the cake, apart from the actual icing on the cake, is that your pets are more than welcome too! Though we realise your cat probably doesn’t want to come.
